Your Holy Place

I was talking with a sister I serve with about "happy places."  We each have things that we love to do that make us feel comfortable and are enjoyable.  While serving a mission we aren't always able to go to our "happy place."  As we were pondering this, the thought came to me that while we aren't able to turn to our happy place, we can go to our holy place.  What are holy places?  Holy places are sacred spots where we can turn from the world and focus on the spiritual aspects of life.  My holy place growing up was back home on my bunk bed next to a window.  I would sit at the bottom of the bed and study the scriptures and Book of Mormon every morning.  I love natural light and the morning time.  The birds would be singing and there was a peace and calmness surrounding me as I read from the holy scriptures.  This sacred time helped build my testimony and knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Some people have shared their holy place is driving to work in the car and praying out loud.  They have that solid time to commune with Heavenly Father and it becomes sacred.  Going to church and attending the temple also provide time to reflect and ponder the things of the spirit.

I want to invite each of you to ponder where your holy place is and what makes it special.  I know that as you take time from your day and spend it searching the scriptures, pondering, and praying, you can come to recognize the Savior's influence more fully in your life. Your holy place can be a place to turn to when you need to refocus on what matters most.
